Clyde H. Robbins Sr. founded Robbins Brick & Block in the early 1950’s near Harris NC. Mr. Robbins began hauling block into rural Rutherford County from Spartanburg SC on a surplus Army truck handling all materials by hand. The business was operated out of a small block building in his back yard until the mid 1960’s when he built a small office building and storage yard next door to his home. Still doing most of the materials handling by hand, Mr. Robbins’ two oldest sons, Clyde Jr. and Phillip, began working for their father once they were old enough to drive. By hard work and God’s blessings, the business grew to several trucks and employees. Mr. Robbins sold the business to Clyde and Phillip in 1976. Today, Robbins Brick & Block, Inc. has three locations, Forest City NC, Gaffney SC and Inman SC. The company still reflects Mr. Robbins’ work ethic, customer care, quality of service, and a dedication to serve our Lord, Jesus Christ.
